BATAVIA/Rochester man indicted on murder charge

A Genesee County Grand Jury has indicted Quinton J. Edmonds, 31, of Rochester, in the death of Michael Paladino on June 1, 2019 in an incident on Ross street.

Paladino, 43, of Batavia, attempted to intervene in a physical altercation between a female and Edmonds on the sidewalk near 5 & 7 Ross street.

Prior to the initial dispatch, a Batavia Police Officer was conducting a traffic stop on an erratic vehicle in the area of Ross and E. Main street. The occupants of the vehicle informed the Officer of the altercation which had just occurred on Ross St. During the traffic stop, Edmonds was approaching the Officer on foot. The occupants identified Edmonds as the suspect and Edmonds was detained.

Edmonds is accused of the crime of murder 2nd, a class A-1 felony, after being involved in a physical altercation with Paladino. Paladino suffered life threatening injuries during the altercation.

Paladino was found bleeding on the floor of the entry way in an apartment building on Ross street. Responding Officers attempted to render first aid to Paladino until Mercy EMS arrived.

He was transported to UMMC by Mercy EMS, but later succumbed to his injuries.
