WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Batavia man punches EMT’s and head butts an officer

On September 1, 2019, Mercy EMT’s were transporting Michael Colombo, 39, of Batavia, to the Wyoming County Community Hospital when Colombo became combative in the ambulance.

Colombo punched both EMT’s in the face with a closed fist causing injuries. He was later taken into custody due to an active arrest warrant for two counts of assault in the 2nd degree by the Batavia Police Department and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.

Colombo head butted a Batavia Police Officer during the exchange of custody, but did not cause an injury to the Officer.

He was arraigned in front of Warsaw Town Court Justice Fusani and was held at the Wyoming County Jail with bail set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Colombo has a return court date of September 16, 2019 in Warsaw Town Court.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Warsaw Walmart for the report of a male and female actively stealing items inside the store on September 2, 2019.

The same couple was reported to have stolen items from the store several days earlier, but had avoided apprehension. Deputies arrived at the store and waited outside until the female, Shawna M. Crandall, 33, of Perry, exited the store. Crandall was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies then entered the store where they took the male, Bradley P. Woods, 24, of Attica, into custody without incident. During the course of the investigation, stolen property and marihuana were located inside the couple’s vehicle. Both Crandall and Woods were charged with the following:

Petit Larceny (2 counts each)

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree

Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree (New charge from recent decriminalization laws)

Crandall and Woods, who were both on NYS Parole, were arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where bail was set in the amount of $5,000.00 cash bail for each.

Crandall was also found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest which was to be dealt with upon her release.

Brooke Thurber, 28, of Holland, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 77 in the Town of Sheldon on September 1, 2019. Thurber was observed by police to be operating a motor vehicle well above the posted speed limit which led to a traffic stop.

After a license check, her license was found to be suspended for failure to pay child support.

Thurber’s vehicle was towed from the scene and she was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and speeding. Thurber was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

She was arraigned in the Town of Bennington where she was held in lieu of $2000 bail. Thurber is scheduled to return to Sheldon Court on Sept 30, 2019 for further proceedings.

On September 9, 2019, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Deputies located Bryce Tarbox, 23, of Allegany, and placed him under arrest for an active warrant of arrest out of the Town of Eagle Court.

Wyoming County Deputies transported Tarbox to the Town of Eagle Court for arraignment. He was released on recognizance and is to appear on September 16, 2019 for further proceedings.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kishonti D. Willams, 27, of Batavia, following a traffic stop on Route 246 in the Town of Perry for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree.

Deputies on patrol observed Williams attempt to pass another vehicle northbound on the right side. Williams was stopped for the traffic infraction and found to have ten active suspensions on his license. He was arrested and issued citations for passing on the right and aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree. Williams is to answer the charges on October 16, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. in the Town of Perry Court.

Shere Sanders, 30 of Arcade, was arrested on September 8, 2019, following a traffic stop on Route 39 in the Town of Arcade.

Sanders was stopped by deputies following a registration check of the vehicle she was driving. It showed the inspection had been expired since 2018. The vehicle was found to be displaying a forged inspection and Sanders was found to have two active suspensions on her driving privilege in the State of New York.

Sanders was arrested and charged with uninspected motor vehicle, displaying a forged inspection, unlicensed operation, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree. Sanders was released and will answer the charges in the Town of Arcade Court on September 19, 2019.
