It was the battle of the unbeatens in Class D on Friday night in Alexander.
Notre Dame and Alexander going into tonight’s matchup were 6-0 on the season. In the last game before sectionals, the Fighting Irish were able to shut down any offensive threat from the Trojans, on the ground and in the air.
Gabe Macdonald set the tone of the game early with an interception in the first quarter that resulted in a touchdown for Macdonald who forced his way through a wall of Alexander players. The two point conversion was good.
With 1:10 left in the first quarter, Macdonald tossed a long pass to Mark Sanders to make the score 14-0. Going for two in the conversion play made it 16-0 at the end of the quarter.
In the second, Jedidiah Reese weaved his way through the defense and made the score 22-0. The two point conversion was good.
Another interception late in the second quarter by Mark Sanders led to another touchdown by Macdonald at the buzzer to make it 30-0. The two point conversion was good.
At the half it was 32-0.
In the third quarter there was no scoring.
In the fourth quarter, Notre Dame added one more TD and a two point conversion and the final score was 40-0.
Notre Dame will be the number one seed in Class D for their home sectional game next weekend and Alexander will be the number two seed in their home sectional game next week.
