BATAVIA/Three people sent to area hospitals in two vehicle accident

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a two vehicle accident involving a pick up and a car on Lewiston road in the Town of Batavia on Sunday afternoon about noon.

According to Sgt. Ron Meides, the pick up was headed south and crossed over into the northbound lane, the car tried to avoid the pick up, but was struck on the front driver’s side.

The male driver and a male passenger in the pick up were transported to Strong Hospital and the female driver of the car was sent to ECMC by ambulance. Both driver’s were extricated from their vehicles. They were conscious and alert.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, both suffered serious, but non life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the driver of the pick up.

UPDATE; According to a Sheriff’s Department accident report, Clayton T. Skye, 19, of Newfane, was the driver of the pick up and Donna M. Woodworth, 58, of Batavia, was the driver of the car.

In the report, Skye told deputies his left arm went numb and he lost control of his 2003 Chevy pick up. Woodworth stated she observed the pick up leave its lane of travel and she tried to avoid the collision by entering the fog line, but was unable to avoid the collision. Both drivers were injured in the accident and transported to area hospitals. A passenger in the pick up, Lavern Aderman Jr, 71, of Newfane was also injured and transported to Strong hospital.
