SECTION 5/ High School Football/Notre Dame crowned Class D Champion with win over Alexander

Top seeded Notre Dame (10-0) defeated number two seed Alexander(8-2) to claim the Section 5 Class D Championship at SUNY Brockport on Friday night.

Jedidiah Reese scored both TD’s for the Irish. In the 1st quarter Reese scored on a 17 yard run with Cody Henry getting the two point conversion to make it 8-0.

In the 3rd quarter, Reese picked up a short, low punt and ran it in for his second touchdown of the game to make it 14-0.

Kameron Lyons responded for the Trojans in the 4th quarter going up to grab a pass in the endzone to make it 14-6, the extra point was good.

Later in the 4th, Alexander’s offense sputtered out and gave up possession on downs with about 2 minutes to play.

Notre Dame Head Coach Joe Zambito was ejected in the 4th quarter after he walked out to the center of the field to disagree with a call. A second foul then occurred on the sidelines and Zambito was ejected. The players brought the Section 5 block to the locker room after the ceremonies to share it with their coach.

Jedidiah Reese was named MVP.

Notre Dame will now face a Section 6 opponent in the Far West Regionals next Friday at Brockport.
