On January 10, 2020 at about 8:30p.m., Officer Spink and Officer Smith with the Perry Police Department were called to an apartment complex for a possible drug complaint.
Upon arriving on scene, it was reported that an individual was allegedly dealing drugs out of a vehicle. An investigation ensued and it was found that 38-year-old Darius Howard of Rochester, New York, drove to the Village of Perry with a suspended non driver ID.
A license check revealed Howard had 8 suspension on 3 separate dates.
A search of the vehicle revealed a white brown substance wrapped in an individual baggie and a white hard substance packaged in small clear baggie.
Officer Spink performed field test on the substances which showed a positive indication for heroin and crack cocaine. While Howard was being placed under arrest, he resisted and fled on foot. Howard was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest by Officer Spink.
Howard is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree with the intent to sell a narcotic drug, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree with the intent to sell a stimulant, criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree and ticketed for unlicensed operator and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree.
Due to the new the new bail reform laws, Howard was issued an appearance ticket on the above charges with a return court date of January 14, 2020 at 1:00p.m. in Perry Village Court.
