WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Larceny suspect recognized at a retail store in Irondequoit, arrested for stealing electronics from Wal-Mart in Warsaw

Preston Lagasse, 31, of North Rose, NY, was arrested and charged with grand larceny 4th, a class E felony, on January 8, 2020 following an investigation into a shoplifting complaint at the Warsaw Wal-Mart which occurred on December 17, 2019.

Lagasse is accused of stealing $1,386 worth of electronics merchandise. Lagasse was identified with the help of the public after he was spotted shopping at a retail store in Irondequoit, NY. He was recognized by a citizen who recalled Lagasse from a Facebook post requesting assistance in obtaining his identity.

Lagasse was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Warsaw Court on January 27, 2020.

On January 8, 2020, Deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Town of Eagle for the report of an order of protection being violated.

Deputies investigated and evidence showed that Matthew J. Johnson, 53, of Java, NY, had violated an order of protection by contacting the protected party of the order.

After not being able to locate Johnson, Deputies obtained a warrant for Johnson’s arrest. On January 13, 2020, Deputies executed the warrant of arrest on Johnson at a residence in the Town of Java.

Johnson is charged with criminal contempt 2nd degree and was arraigned in the Town of Pike Court in front of Justice Husted. He was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Eagle Court at a later date.

On January 12, 2020, Deputies responded to Route 98 in the Town of Java for a car versus deer accident. The driver of the vehicle, Joseph L. Davis, 23, of Attica, was found to have a revoked driver’s license for failure to submit to a chemical test. Davis was issued an appearance ticket for aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd.

Davis is to appear in the Town of Java Court on February 5, 2020 to answer to the charge.

On January 11, 2020, at approximately 12:43a.m., a Deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Folsomdale Road in the Town of Bennington after observing vehicle and traffic violations.

Upon speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Jillian Calmes, 35 of Bennington, the Deputy began to detect signs of impairment. A DWI investigation was conducted, which included Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.

Following the testing, Calmes was arrested for DWI. She was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she then refused to provide a breath sample.

Calmes is charged DWI and failure to keep right. She was arraigned for purposes of revoking her NYS driver’s license for refusing to provide a breath sample. Calmes re-appeared in the Town of Bennington Court on January 13, 2020 for further proceedings.

Robert C. Mastowski, 38, of Fillmore was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 39 in the Town of Castile on January 15, 2020. Mastowski was stopped after the vehicle he was operating was found to have a suspended registration for insurance lapse. He was also found to possess a quantity of marijuana.

Mastowski is charged with operation while registration suspended and unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree. He was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Castile Court on January 27, 2020.
