Local agencies participated in a learning collaborative at Lake Plains Community Care Network at their East Main street offices on Friday afternoon.
12 area agencies discussed what they have been doing in regards to cultural competence and health literacy. Three speakers were on hand to discuss sexual assault services, trauma informed care and justice involved individuals who are in the process of coming back into society and the services they need. Women’s healthcare and services available to them after returning to the community after serving time in prison was also part of the discussion.
Agencies meet quarterly and they share resources and ideas so they can have better health outcomes for those who are most vulnerable in local communities. The collaborative assists the agencies in creating a strategic working plan tailored for each agency.
Participants on Friday:
Lake Plains Community Care Network, BreathOne, People Inc., GCASA, Elderwood Health Plan, Restore/Planned Parenthood, Hillside, Genesee Office for the Aging, Genesee County Mental Health, Genesee Justice, Glow Women Rise, FLPPS and State Senate Candidate for District 61, Kim Smith
