BATAVIA/McTeacher’s night at McDonalds brings out the JK community

The John Kennedy Intermediate School in Batavia participated in their first ever McTeacher’s night at McDonalds east on Tuesday night.

About 80-100 students enjoyed seeing 8 of their teachers hard at work from 4:30-7:30 working the register, serving the food and helping in the kitchen.

“It’s a win win,” says Amanda Cook, School Principal.

“We get to come out and be part of the community and the families and the kidos get to come out and see us working out here. It’s a fun night, the kids are like, “You don’t live at school?”

General Manager Holly Carney approached Cook about the idea.

The John Kennedy Parent Group gets to keep 15% of all sales during the event. There were also several baskets that contain McDonalds items for raffle and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from the raffles go the parent group.

A big draw for the evening was the early start to Shamrock Shake season.

“I actually went and got the Shamrock Shakes from the Medina store today so we would have them tonight, because our truck doesn’t come until tomorrow morning,” Carney says.

Cook says the group would like to come back again.

“Its great seeing the different families sitting together, mingling and talking with each other and enjoying their time here. I want to thank McDonalds, this was awesome”
