Press release
On March 6, 2020 at 6:34 p.m., the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office along with the Albion Fire Department and COVA ambulance, were dispatched to the area of 3690 Eagle Harbor Road in the Town of Albion for a two vehicle accident with injury.
An investigation revealed that a 2007 Ford Econoline E350 van was being operated by Michael Dipiazza of Oakfield, NY and was traveling south on Eagle Harbor Road.
A 1989 Ford Econoline E150 van was being operated by Jill Stinson of Albion, NY and was traveling north on Eagle Harbor Road.
The vehicle being operated by Michael Dipiazza crossed over the center of the roadway and struck the vehicle being driven by Jill Stinson head-on. Stinson was extricated from the vehicle and transported by COVA ambulance to Medina Memorial Hospital. At 7:47 p.m. she was pronounced dead at the hospital. A passenger in Stinson’s vehicle and Michael Dipiazza were not injured.
It appears that weather conditions at the time of the accident were a contributing factor as to why Dipiazza crossed in to the opposite lane of traffic.
The investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
