WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Fillmore man charged after driving with a revoked license for 20 years

A Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Deputy checked on a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of Pioneer Propane located on Route 39 in the Town of Pike on March 4, 2020.

The driver of the vehicle, Daniel L Garwood, 42 of Fillmore, was found to have a revoked New York State driver’s license. Garwood has been revoked since April of 2000 for DWI. It was also found that Garwood had multiple suspensions on his license.

Garwood was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree, and unlicensed operator.

Garwood was released with an appearance ticket and is to appear in Pike Town Court on March 10, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Two people were arrested following a traffic stop on Route 246 in the Town of Covington on March 4, 2020. A 2012 Ford Fusion was observed by law enforcement stopped in the middle of the driving lane on Court Road by Silver Lake Road.

Two subjects exited the vehicle, switched seats, and then continued driving on Court Road. Police followed the vehicle and observed as the vehicle was driving entirely on the left hand side of the roadway.

A traffic stop was conducted on Route 246 in the Town of Covington where it was determined that a 17 year old was operating the vehicle from Batavia to Court Road, and Nashiem R. Harris, 21, of Batavia was driving the vehicle from Court Road to the scene of the traffic stop.

The odor of burned marijuana was detected, and a partially smoked marijuana blunt was located in the center console during a vehicle search. Both drivers performed poorly on field sobriety tests and were then evaluated by a Certified Drug Recognition Expert at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. Both were determined to be impaired by the use of drugs.

Harris is charged with DWAI/drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, and failure to keep right.

The 17 year old female, who will remain nameless due to her age, was charged with DWAI/drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, and stopping on pavement.

Both were issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Covington Court on March 16, 2020 to answer the charges, and were released to a sober third party.
