GENESEE COUNTY/Candidate for Sheriff holds a campaign kick-off on Saturday, announces Undersheriff

David Krzemein kicks off his campaign for Genesee County Sheriff with his pick for Undersheriff Chris Parker

The Campaign to Elect David Krzemien for Genesee County Sheriff held a Campaign Kick-Off Rally at Batavia Country Club on Saturday afternoon.
Krzemien announced his choice for Undersheriff, Investigator Christopher Parker with the Sheriff’s Office.

Krzemien is currently a part time Corfu Police Officer and Darien Deputy Town Supervisor.

“I have a lot of interest and passion for law enforcement. I feel like I could provide a change in a positive direction, the community needs a voice and the Sheriff wears two hats. One is overseeing the operations of the Sheriff’s Office and also the community, with the public voicing their concerns,” says Krzemien.

Opening the door to outreach programs like neighborhood watch and GCASA along with keeping deputies on the road for traffic enforcement are some of the issues Krzemien mentioned along with communication with the public.

“It creates a stronghold and a trust with law enforcement, the public then won’t shy away from helping us.”

Krzemien says he will also work towards repealing the current bail reform law in NYS.

“Its very intimidating, bail reform is a huge concern to law enforcement right now.”

Investigator Christopher Parker says Krzemien, a Democrat, approached him about being his Undersheriff in November.

“Even though I am a Republican, he’s had the chance to work with me on cases in Corfu and as a seasonal deputy at Darien Lake, he has gotten to know the person I am, my work ethic, how I conduct business and how I approach the job, and he liked what he saw. This is a bipartisan approach to this office and I think it will benefit our residents,” says Parker.

Krzemien and Parker view the day to day operations differently than the current administration.

“Not saying that there is anything wrong, but there should be room for looking at different viewpoints and a different perspectives. We’re not politicians, we’re police officers and we are happy to keep that up. When we get the chance we are not just going to be sitting behind a desk.”

Parker mentioned Sheriff Tom Dougherty of Livingston County and Sheriff Greg Rudolph of Wyoming County who still go on calls for service and are out on patrol occasionally.

Parker feels its important for the department to see their boss still willing to be out there up front.

“I understand there is an administrative part of the job, but there is still something to be said for putting on that uniform every once and a while and going to a briefing or out on patrol and just taking a call for service. I think that really inspires people. It commands respect instead of demanding respect.”
