Press release
A larceny complaint led to multiple charges against a Buffalo man in the Town of Warsaw on March 6, 2020.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a larceny of fuel from a local farm on Sayre Road. Members of the farm followed the suspect to Wyoming Street in the Village of Warsaw where the suspect’s vehicle broke down. The suspect then offered to pay $50.00 for the gas he had taken.
The $50.00 bill was later determined to be counterfeit, and the suspect eventually fled on foot prior to police interaction. The suspect was found to have stolen diesel fuel which he had put into the Hyundai sedan he was driving, causing damage to the vehicle.
Through investigation, deputies determined the suspect was Stevie C. Williams, 42, of Buffalo, NY, a three time convicted felon who had two active warrants for his arrest, and who had a revoked NYS Identification Card with 15 active suspensions/revocations on it.
Williams had taken the vehicle from a family member in Lackawanna, NY the day prior without authorization to do so, and it remains unknown why he was in the Warsaw area.
On March 7, 2020 Williams was arrested by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and charged as follows:
Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree (Class C Felony)
Petit Larceny
Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree
Unlicensed Operation
Williams was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where he was committed to the Wyoming County Jail without bail due to the number of prior felony convictions.
Williams is scheduled to return to the Town of Warsaw Court on April 13, 2020 for further proceedings.
