GENESEE COUNTY/Chapin Manufacturing food drive for the United Way

Press release/submitted photos

Over the past two weeks Chapin Manufacturing has hosted an employee food drive to collect items for the United Way of Genesee County’s Backpack Program.

This program supplies students throughout six school districts in the county with weekend meals and snacks.

This generous donation of food could not come at a better time. There was so much, that Chapin had to deliver it in one of their box trucks.

Delivery came to the Arc Hub where we pack the bags. Six Arc team members helped unload the truck.

During this time of bedlam, the Backpack Program will continue to work with districts to offer these extra meals while the schools are closed.

We’ve also had Liberty Pumps and the Genesee County employees who joined forces with Kiwanis run successful food drives, which allowed us to send home extra items in the month of December.

If families who usually receive the weekend food bags are unable to while their school is closed, they can reach out to Tammy Hathaway at the United Way at 585-343-8141.
