WYOMING COUNTY/COVID-19 Update/8 confirmed cases in the county

Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors, Jerry L. Davis, reports: As of Monday, March 30at 5:00pm the Wyoming County Health Department reports the following: Eight (8) lab confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 among Wyoming County residents have been reported to the Health Department.

Northwest (Attica, Bennington, Orangeville, Sheldon)1 positive case, 1 recovery

Southwest (Arcade, Eagle, Java, Wethersfield) 0 cases

Southeast (Castile, Gainesville, Genesee Falls, Pike) 1 positive case

Northeast (Covington, Middlebury, Perry, Warsaw) 5 positive cases, 2 recoveries and 1 death

Other*1 positive case

TOTAL– 8 positive case, 3 recoveries 1 death

*As of 3/30/20 there is 1 positive case residing in another location

The Wyoming County Health Department receives reports of all positive confirmed cases among Wyoming County residents, regardless of where the test was performed.

Contact tracing on positive cases is ongoing to identify close contacts, including household members, employers and others the individual may have come in contact with during the infectious period.

Test kits are in short supply and labs are backlogged –Wyoming County residents should continue to stay home as much as possible and practice social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19.

As the incidence of COVID-19 increases in Wyoming County, people who develop symptoms including fever over 100.4, cough and difficulty breathing should self-quarantine and care for themselves at home.

Call your healthcare provider for advice and avoid the Emergency Room unless your symptoms are severe.
