WYOMING COUNTY/Faulty wood stove chimney cause of Orangeville fire

Six fire companies responded to a house fire at 3045 Centerline road in the Town of Orangeville on Saturday afternoon.

Varysburg, Sheldon, North Java, Warsaw, Styrkersville and Alexander Fire responded about 3:32p.m. and were on scene for about four hours. There were no injuries reported.

Also assisting at the scene was Wyoming County Emergency Management and National Grid.

The home is owned by Richard Mengs. Estimated loss is $25,000. A faulty masonry chimney used for a wood stove caused the fire.

The fire was contained to the attic area, with water and smoke damage to the home.
