What does it mean?

Mandatory Quarantine: Person has been in close contact (within 6 feet) with someone who is positive, whether displaying symptoms for COVID-19 or not.

Quarantine refers to separating people for a period of time who are, or may have been exposed, but may not be showing signs of illness. 

Mandatory Isolation: Person has tested positive for COVID-19, whether or not displaying symptoms. Isolation refers to separating people who are sick from those who are not sick for a period of time. 

Precautionary Quarantine: Person is known to have had a proximate exposure (being in the same enclosed environment, but at greater than 6 feet separation) to a positive person, but has not had direct close contact with a positive person and is not displaying symptoms. 

Recovered: For some, this refers to a COVID-19 positive case who has isolated for a minimum of 7 days and has been fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication for at least 72 hours; these patients must wear a mask for 14 days from the onset of symptoms. The criteria for “recovered” status have changed since the beginning of the outbreak, as new data and research have accumulated. It is not currently known if recovered patients are protected from COVID-19 reinfection or how long they remain infectious. It is not currently known what percentage of the population may be asymptomatic carriers. This is the basis for maintaining social distance to slow the spread of COVID-19.
