Hailee Lowe is a Senior at Alexander Central School and helped organize a retirement parade for the schools’ beloved shop teacher, Bob Hollwedel, 61,who was planning to retire at the end of this school year.
” I thought it would be wonderful for a group of alumni, students, and staff to get together to do a drive by parade for such a loving teacher at Alexander. Mr. H is retiring this year and like us seniors, he got his last year at Alexander Central School taken away from him,” says Lowe.
Mr. H has been teaching at the Alexander Schools for 38 years and has always cared about the students.
“He would always put the students before himself. Mr. H is a wonderful, sweet, loving teacher and students are extremely sad that he is leaving and that he cannot spend the rest or his last year at Alexander Central School.”
Mr. H says he has no plans to just fade away. He says he loves driving school bus for Alexander and will continue his summer camp each year in July, beginning next year. He will also continue to help with the Tech Wars program in its 13th year at GCC.
“My biggest thing I found is you gotta be yourself,” says Mr. H.
“Just take everybody for where they are at and you just work with everybody and anybody and a way you can help them out, that’s what it boils down to.”
