The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary that occurred on Saturday evening at Dave’s Ice Cream on West Main street road in the Town of Batavia.
Deputies were dispatched at 10:53p.m. for a burglary in progress, along with the City of Batavia Police Department and the NYS Police.
Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown suspect forcibly gained entry into the building by prying the rear door open. The building was secured by law enforcement on scene and it was determined that the suspect fled the scene.
Surveillance video shows an unknown suspect wearing black pants, a black coat, a grey hooded sweatshirt, white gloves and a black mask as they entered the building. The suspect attempted to gain entry into the cash registers before leaving in what appeared to be a small, white SUV.
The investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office.
