An Oakfield man, who is a level two registered sex offender, has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child under the age of 11 years old, according to State Police.
Steven A. Mullen, 33, was arrested on June 16, 2020, while at his job in Batavia.
The sex offense occurred on May 21, 2020 in Oakfield.
Mullen is charged with one count of sexual abuse 1st, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is also charged with sex offender failure to report a change in status and offering a false instrument for filing 1st.
Mullen was jailed on $30,000 cash bail and is being held at the Genesee County Jail.
In November of 2003, he sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl. He was charged with having sexual contact, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.
He was sentenced to 10 years probation and 4 months local jail time in 2004. He also served state prison time for violating probation and then violating his parole after being released.
In 2012, Mullen was sentenced to 3-6 years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary in Genesee County Court. He also admitted to a sex offender registry violation.
He was released to parole in February of 2016.
