GENESEE ORLEANS/Health Dept./COVID-19 Update/Three new positive cases in Genesee, one death in Orleans

New Cases –

As of 2:00 p.m.

· Genesee County received 3 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 221 positive cases

§ All of the new positive individuals reside in Darien.

§ One of the individuals is less than 20 years old, and two of the individuals are in their 40’s.

§ All of the new positive individuals were on mandatory quarantine prior to testing positive

· Orleans County received 0 new positive cases of COVID-19 today for a total of 264 positive cases

§ 2 of the previous community positive cases have recovered and have been

released from mandatory isolation.

§ 10 of the total active positive cases are hospitalized. Please note those in the hospital may be from the community or a state-regulated facility. We do not separate them out to protect their privacy.

§ We are saddened to report the death of one of our county residents. This person lived at the Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of this individual during this very challenging time.

The facility breakdown is only showing the total positive cases from those facilities from where we received a positive swab for COVID-19.

· Genesee and Orleans Counties are now in Phase 4.

Currently, states include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah and Texas. Those violating could be subject to a judicial order and mandatory quarantine and potential fines. These states may change at any time.

· Groups of 50 or less is now in effect for those regions in phase 4.

The Governor announced Wednesday 06/24/20 for regions in phase 4, that gathering sizes are increased for up to 50 and indoor religious gatherings can increase to 33% of the indoor site’s capacity.

The local Health Departments do not authorize or allow exemptions from the Governor’s orders. If you have questions about the orders you can go to forward.ny.gov or e-mail the Finger Lakes Regional Control Room.

Individuals are to continue practicing social distancing, wearing cloth masks/face coverings over their mouth and nose, frequent hand cleaning and increased cleaning/sanitizing of shared surfaces and do NOT socialize if you have any symptoms – STAY HOME!

Community Testing:

Oak Orchard Health is now able to provide expanded COVID-19 swabbing to the public at their Albion location (future locations may be added later). Anyone needing testing for COVID-19 and meeting the criteria (being symptomatic (sick) or required for profession) can call Oak Orchard Health at 585-589-5613 for an appointment, no walk-ins. Oak Orchard Health will do their best to accommodate scheduling demands, but be aware appointments may fill up quickly. The current testing schedule is Monday 3:40-4:40; Tuesday 4:00-5:00; Wednesday 2:20-3:20; Thursday 3:00-4:00; Friday 3:20-4:20.
