The calls started coming into 911 dispatch about 3:30p.m..
Basements flooded, roads filling with water.
Cars going off the road.
The Medina Fire Department immediately summoned for help with mutual aid arriving from surrounding volunteer fire departments.
After about an hour of steady rain, the Mayor put a no unnecessary travel ban in place to allow fire apparatus to be able to maneuver the streets to get to the many homes with flooded basements.
As of about 7:30p.m., Lt. Steve Cooley with the Medina Fire Department says they had pumped out about 60 cellars in the village. By midnight he figured it would be closer to 100.
Cooley says Orleans County rain gauges say between 5.5-7.0 inches of rain fell between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30p.m.
The last time the village had to deal with this amount of water all at once it was 1985.
