She just started “Payton’s Place of Purpose” at the beginning of June.

“She came to my husband and I with her idea,” says Nicole LeFever DeLelys, Payton’s mom. My husband Rob and I thought, sure, try it, but we didn’t think people would be so willing to donate.”

“Payton’s Place of Purpose” is a place where 11 year old Payton DeLelys, of Alexander sells her rock art, crafts and drawings to raise funds for different places that need money or need things.

“All your money will go to help someone or something,” Payton says.

“Payton’s Place of Purpose” has shipped rock art to places as far away as New York City, Long Island and North Carolina. People pay her much more than she usually asks. She has received as much as $50 for a rock and also just donations.

So far “Payton’s Place of Purpose” has raised $120 for Oishei’s Children’s Hospital, $102 for Alexander’s Food Pantry, $520 for TASC (an organization that provides therapy and services for disabled and special needs people) and currently over $300 for “Kennas Fight” which Payton just started raising money for on July 29th.

“She chooses the charity. People had suggested some to her and I looked online and went over them. When we went over the charity for “Kennas Fight” Payton was overwhelmed and said “That’s the one I want to do” We watched a video/interview of Kennas parents online and she was just saddened by their story.”

Payton has been overwhelmed by the response.

“She had a list at one point of rock orders. We do chip in as a family and often paint with her nightly.”

Sometimes it can take 15 to 30 minutes per rock says her mom, depending on how hard it is, other times longer.

“I think she learned that one person can touch a lot of people and make a difference. She’s overwhelmed by how many people are willing to buy rocks to help someone else.”
