WYOMING COUNTY/Castile man dies after being pinned under a tractor

On August 8, 2020, at approximately 12:27p.m. , the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division received a call reporting a man pinned underneath an overturned tractor at a Rt. 19A residence in the Town of Castile.

Deputies, along with Castile Fire/Rescue and Monroe Ambulance, were requested to respond to the scene. Upon arrival it was discovered, Walter Pilc, 73, of Castile, had been operating his residential compact tractor along the edge of a soy bean field directly behind his residence when it overturned and pinned him underneath.

He was found by a family member who went to check on him.

Evidence at the scene revealed that the right side of the tractor left the edge of the field and went down a steep embankment, overturning on top of Pilc. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Wyoming County Coroner, Renee Hill.
