WYOMING COUNTY/Strykersville woman sentenced in collision involving two children and a dog

Press release

On Thursday, August 6, 2020, the Honorable Michael M. Mohun of Wyoming County Court sentenced Lauren M. Hall, of Strykersville, to a combination of jail and probation for her conviction of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting as a class E felony.

The conviction arose from an incident that occurred on August 15, 2019 on Dutch Hollow Road in the Town of Sheldon. At approximately 8:15 p.m., Hall drove onto the shoulder of the road and struck two young girls, ages 12 and 14 years, who were walking with their dog. One of the girls sustained serious physical injuries as a result, and the other suffered lesser injuries. The dog was killed instantly. Hall left the scene of the incident without reporting it and made no effort to render assistance to the girls. She surrendered herself to the police the following day.

Hall pleaded guilty to the offense on February 9, 2020. There was no agreement as to the sentence to be imposed, which was left in the discretion of the Court. She faced up to 4 years’ imprisonment.

The Court imposed a sentence of three months in the Wyoming County Jail and a three-year term of probation.

Probation for what? Is there any type of restitution for the girls injuries, surgery, physical therapy, pain and suffering, ruining her summer, also losing her well love dog. The kicker is she didn’t stop and help. The girls as well as the dog could have been dead. This is wrong on so many counts. What is next?

  2. Are you serious?? Jacklynn was seriously injured. That drunken lush KILLED her dog, and all she got was three months behind bars and three years probation. Where is the justice here??? Certainly not for the victim. How soon until the drunkard is going to KILL a pedestrian or any other innocent person just minding their own business.

  3. She knew someone or was definitely related to someone. I had really never been in trouble till my late 30’s. Never had been to jail, nothing. Forgery charge, no reduction and I was sent to prison. She hit people, hurt them and drove away!!! Are justice system is a joke
