WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Arcade man charged during traffic stop

Glen L. Taskinen, 35, of Arcade, was arrested following a traffic stop on Curriers Road in the Town of Java on September 4, 2020.

Taskinen was the driver of a vehicle stopped for multiple traffic infractions, and during the course of roadside investigation, Taskinen was found in possession of concentrated cannabis, marijuana, and smoking paraphernalia.

Taskinen failed roadside field sobriety testing and was taken into custody for driving while ability impaired.

He was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where a drug recognition expert determined Taskinen was impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Taskinen is charged with DWAI/drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, failure to keep right, and driver’s view obstructed.

Taskinen was issued an appearance ticket and scheduled to appear in the Town of Java Court on September 16, 2020.

Craig S. Ewert, 58, of Bennington, was arrested following a traffic stop on Curriers Road in the Town of Java on September 4, 2020.

Ewert was the driver of a vehicle stopped for speeding, and was found to be operating with no driver’s license. Ewert had a NYS identification card which had been revoked since 2008 for DWI related revocations.

Ewert failed roadside field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for DWI. Ewert then refused to submit to a chemical test.

He is charged with one felony, aggravated unlicensed operation 1st, along with DWI and speeding in a zone.

Ewert was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where his license was additionally suspended pending a refusal hearing. Ewert was then released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to Wyoming County Court on October 15, 2020 for further proceedings.
