BATAVIA POLICE REPORT/East Bethany man accused of punching two staff members at UMMC

Matthew M. Maniace, 38, of Fargo Rd., East Bethany, is charged with harassment 2nd after two different incidents at UMMC at 127 North street.

On September 9, 2020 a 4:14a.m., patrols responded to UMMC for a panic alarm and found staff in a physical altercation with Maniace.

Maniace allegedly punched two members of UMMC staff.

He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in City Court on December 1, 2020 at 1:00p.m.

On September 10, 2020, Maniace was also charged with a harassment 2nd after an incident at UMMC at 127 North Street. He was issued an appearance ticket and released and will appear in City Court on November 10, 2020 at 1:00p.m.

Shante M. Griffin, 28, of Fisher Park, Batavia, is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, after she allegedly left her two children, under the age of 5, alone in the upstairs apartment without adult supervision.

The incident occurred on September 9, 2020 at 10:30p.m.

Kimberly R. Garland, 51, of Culver Ave., Warsaw, is charged with grand larceny, criminal contempt 1st and harassment 2nd, after she allegedly struck another female who has an order of protection against her at 200 Oak street on September 17, 2020 at 12:15a.m.

Garland also allegedly stole the female’s phone.

She was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in City Court on December 15, 2020 at 1:30p.m.

Trevor S. Rarick, 25, of W. Main St., Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more and refusal to take a breath test, after a complaint that Rarick was passed out at the wheel of his car while it was in the McDonald’s drive thru at 573 East Main street on September 13, 2020 at 2:36a.m.

Rarick was processed at Batavia Police Department headquarters and released on appearance tickets. He will appear in City Court on December 13, 2020 at 9:00a.m.

Katherine J. Briggs, 41, of S. Main St., Batavia, is charged with harassment 2nd, following an incident at an apartment complex on S. Main street where she allegedly threatened to physically harm a resident on September 13, 2020 at 12:41a.m.

Briggs was arraigned in City Court on September 13, 2020 via Skype.

Briggs was released on recognizance and will return to City Court on November 5, 2020 at 10:00a.m.

Joseph G. Sumeriski, 28, of S. Main St., Batavia, was arrested on a City of Batavia Court bench warrant, following a traffic stop in the City of Batavia on 200 W. Main street on September 12, 2020 at 12:50a.m.

Sumeriski was arraigned in City Court and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Batavia City Court at a later date and time.

Luis J. Santiago-Arroyo, 32, of Buell St., Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt 2nd, after allegedly violating an order of protection by standing in front of the residence of the protected party on September 2, 2020.

Santiago was arraigned in City Court via Skype before Judge Rogers. He was held on $2,000 A, $4,000 B, and $8,000 E with 10% down.

He is do back in court on September 22, 2020 at 1:00p.m.

Jason C. Mann, 44, of Pringle Ave., Batavia, is charged with disorderly contact, after an investigation into multiple disturbances on Hutchins and Lewis place.

On September 7, 2020 at 9:25a.m., Mann allegedly engaged in threatening and tumultuous behavior in the presence of the Batavia Police. Mann allegedly flicked a cigarette at another person.

He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in City Court on November 10, 2020 at 1:00p.m.
