GENESEE COUNTY/With the help of employees at Graham Manufacturing, the statues in front of the VA hospital have been refurbished

VA Western New York Healthcare System acknowledged the work completed to refurbish the statues in front of the VA Hospital facility at the Batavia Campus on Tuesday morning.

William Joyce, Director, Genesee County Veteran’s Services, worked with Graham Manufacturing of Batavia, to set up their generous donation to beautify the statues by stripping them and repainting them so they can remain on display for veterans, the public and employees.

The project involved four Graham Manufacturing employees who donated their time and effort, along with a paint donation provided by William Joyce of Genesee County Veteran’s Services. The workers finished the refurbish project in two days.

According to the Bob Yungfleisch, a 46 year Graham Manufacturing employee, the cement statues have not been stripped and painted in at least 20 years.

After William Joyce approached Yungfleisch with the project and he got the okay from the higher ups, the cement statues were transported to Graham to complete the work.

“It was a privilege to do it,” says Yungfleisch.

“That’s what we are here for to help people.”

Graham Manufacturing employees Bob Yungfleisch, Ed Harding, Tom Herold and Patrick Caughlin receive certificates of appreciation from Royce Calhoon, Associate Medical Center Director at VA WNY Healthcare.

The four employees were recognized with certificates today, given out by by Associate Medical Center Director Royce Calhoon.

“We thank you so much for everything you’ve done for us in helping our grounds look beautiful, your efforts are very well appreciated,” says Calhoon.
