WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Bath woman accused of issuing a bad check to a business, then returning to the business with alleged counterfeit money

Grace Brown, 46, of Bath, NY, was arrested for possession of a forged instrument 1st, forgery 2nd, and issuing a bad check by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, following an investigation on October 14, 2020.

It is alleged that Brown issued a forged check to a business in Gainesville to pay for items she purchased. It is also alleged that Brown returned on a different day to pay cash to that same business to pay off the bad check, however, that money was allegedly counterfeit.

Brown was arraigned on the above charges and released until pre-trial. She is scheduled to appear in Wyoming County Court on October 29, 2020.

On October 19, 2020, Tasha B. Burdgick, 34, of Arcade, allegedly assaulted an adult female by punching the victim several times in the face causing injury .

The incident occurred in the Town of Arcade. The suspect was known by the victim.

Burdgick is charged with assault 3rd and was issued an appearance ticket. Burdgick is to answer the above charge in Arcade Town Court in November, 2020.

On October 12, 2020, David J. Smith, 52, of Cowlesville, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop on Reilein Road, in the Town of Bennington.

A deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was operating stationary patrol on Clinton Street Road, when he observed Smith traveling eastbound in a white SUV.

The deputy had prior knowledge that Smith had no NYS license and his operating privileges were suspended.

A vehicle and traffic enforcement stop was conducted on Reilein Road and Smith was taken into custody. Smith was processed roadside and issued appearance tickets for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 3rd degree and unlicensed operator.

Smith is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bennington Court at a later date.
