WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Dansville man charged after traffic stop in Perry

Martin J. Harper, 46, of Dansville, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 39 in the Town of Perry on January 24, 2021.

Harper was stopped by Deputies at 10:31p.m., after he failed to dim his high beams and was operating 35mph in a 55mph zone. During a roadside investigation, Harper exhibited sings of possible drug impairment and was requested to perform standardized field sobriety testing. Following the testing, Harper was taken into custody for driving while ability impaired by drugs.

He was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he underwent a drug influence evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert from the Warsaw Police Department. Following the evaluation, Harper was found to allegedly be impaired by multiple categories of drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Harper was charged with failure to dim high beams, no front plate, and unlawful possession of marijuana second, DWAI/Drugs, and DWAI/ Combination of Drugs. Harper was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Perry Court at a later date.

Also assisting at the scene was the Perry Police Department.
