ORLEANS COUNTY/Murray man charged with felony arson after allegedly setting his mobile home on fire

Kenneth J. Julien, 35, of Skyline Circle, Town of Murray, is charged with arson 2nd degree, a class B felony, menacing 2nd, and criminal possession of a weapon, after allegedly setting his mobile home on fire at 27 Skyline Circle at the County Line Mobile Home Park in the Town of Murray at 8:57p.m. on February 19, 2021.

As fire companies from Murray, Clarendon, Holley and Kendall arrived on scene, there was a male reportedly seen with a suit case fleeing the scene of the mobile home fire.

Additional Sheriff Patrol, along with the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, then responded and eventually located Julien about 10:15p.m. on Vindale drive, inside the mobile home park. Julien was discovered by Deputy Cole and his K-9 partner and NYS Trooper Towner..

The circumstances surrounding the fire are still under investigation.

According to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, Julien allegedly told a neighbor he killed his dog in a field and then set his trailer on fire. Another neighbor told police that when they told Julien that police were looking for him and attempted to touch his arm, Julien allegedly raised a hatchet and told the the other neighbor “I’ll slice you up.”

Julien was arraigned before “CAP Court” Justice Spada, and bail was set at $10,000 cash. He is scheduled to appear in County Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing.
