GENESEE COUNTY/Rochester man indicted on charges after a domestic incident

Rajea S. Thomas, 31, of Rochester, has been indicted by a Genesee County Grand Jury and is accused of the crimes of criminal contempt 1st, a class E felony, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a class A misdemeanor, and attempted criminal mischief 4th, a class B felony, after an April 30, 2020 domestic incident at a residence in the City of Batavia.

Thomas allegedly violated a court ordered order of protection by having physical contact with the victim in the order of protection. He allegedly harassed, annoyed and threatened the victim. Thomas is accused of applying pressure on the throat or the neck of the victim. He is also accused of preventing the victim from requesting emergency assistance through her phone or similar communication equipment. Thomas allegedly attempted to disable or remove the victim’s telephonic or similar communication sending equipment while the victim was attempting to seek or engage in the process of seeking emergency assistance.
