GENESEE COUNTY/Batavia man arrested after selling crack cocaine to an agent of the Local Drug Task Force

Anthony J. Welch, aka “Science”, 40, of East Main St., Batavia, is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance 3rd and criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd, both class B felonies, after an investigation into the possession, transportation, and sale of crack cocaine in and around the City of Batavia.

Welch allegedly sold a quantity of crack cocaine to an agent of the Genesee County Local Drug Task Force. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Clinton street road in the Town of Stafford, after it was discovered he had an active indictment warrant and a bench warrant out of Genesee County Court for pending drug charges from May of 2020.

Welch was arraigned by Judge Charles Zambito and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.

Task Force members were assisted by uniformed Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies, a NYS ENCON Officer, and the Genesee County District Attorney’s Office.
