A family of three are being assisted by the Red Cross after a fire at their home at 6596 Youngers road in the Town of Arcade late Thursday night.
Eight fire companies responded to the home owned by Shane and Lisa Spencer about 10:52p.m., for a fire that started in the attic area. The home suffered extensive damage with the living area receiving smoke and water damage.
One firefighter sustained an ankle injury, but remained on duty.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Arcade, Bliss, Strykersville, Sheldon, North Java, Pike, Yorkshire and Chaffee Sardinia fire departments were on scene about four hours. Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Arcade Highway, the Red Cross and RG&E.
