Lynn Scarpa, 25, of LeRoy, was arrested following a five car collision on North Main Street in the Village of Castile on June 4, 2021.
Scarpa was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, color white, southbound on North Main Street, when her vehicle left the roadway sideswiping a parked vehicle in front of the Post Office. Scarpa’s vehicle then continued southbound striking a Ford work van from behind which was also parked in front of the Post Office. Scarpa’s vehicle pushed this van into a Ford Fusion which was parked in front of Carney’s Market, which then struck a Toyota RAV4, which was parked in front of it.
The Ford Fusion that was struck, was occupied and the occupant was transported by Castile Ambulance to the Wyoming County Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Tallman’s Garage was called to the scene to assist, and they removed two vehicles from the scene which were not drivable.
Scarpa was found to allegedly have concentrated cannabis in her pants pocket and throughout her vehicle. Scarpa performed poorly on field sobriety testing at the scene and was taken into custody. She was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. Scarpa was determined to be impaired by multiple categories of drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
She is charged with DWAI/drugs, Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs, and moving from a lane unsafely. Scarpa was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Castile Court on June 14, 2021. Scarpa was released to a sober third party.
Jahakkar J. Beaver, 24, of Buffalo, was arrested for DWAI/drugs following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry on May 27, 2021. Beaver was observed operating a vehicle with extremely dark window tint covering all of the vehicle windows, including the entire windshield. Upon interviewing Beaver, the strong odor of burnt marijuana was found emitting from the vehicle. Beaver was also found to have a suspended driver’s license with 17 active suspensions.
Beaver submitted to field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest for DWAI/Drugs. Beaver was transported to the Warsaw Police Department where he underwent a drug influence evaluation by a Warsaw Police Department Drug Recognition Expert. Beaver was found to be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Beaver is charged with multiple window tint violations, consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd, felony aggravated unlicensed operation 1st, and DWAI/drugs.
Beaver was released with appearance tickets on all charges and will return to Town Court at a later date.
Nicholas K Ocasio, 28, of Binghamton, was arrested for numerous charges including Felony Leandra’s Law DWI, following a traffic stop on Route 63 in the Town of Covington.
On May 21st, Ocasio was stopped after the vehicle he was operating was found to have a suspended registration.
During the roadside interview, it was found that Ocasio had a suspended license and had been consuming marijuana while also having an 11 year old passenger. A roadside investigation, including a standardized field sobriety test were completed.
Ocasio was placed under arrest for DWAI/drugs and transported to the Sheriff’s Office to be evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. Following the evaluation, Ocasio was determined to be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Ocasio is charged with aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), DWAI by Drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, suspended registration, operating without insurance, and consuming cannabis in a motor vehicle.
Ocasio was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Covington Court at a later date.
On June 3, 2021, at about 11:09p.m., a deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling southbound on Route 19, in the Town of Gainesville, when a red four door sedan was observed traveling southbound at a slower rate of speed swerving in its lane.
The deputy continued to follow the vehicle southbound and observed the vehicle cross the yellow center line several times and a vehicle and traffic enforcement stop was conducted on Route 19 at Miller Road, in the Town of Gainesville.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Nolan H. Brauen, 27, of Yorkshire, NY.
While interviewing Brauen, the deputy suspected Brauen to be under the influence and a roadside DWI investigation was started, which included standardized field sobriety testing.
Following field sobriety testing, Brauen was placed under arrest for DWAI/drugs and was transported to the Warsaw Police Department where he submitted to a drug influence evaluation conducted by a New York State Certified Drug Recognition Expert. Following the evaluation, it was the DRE’s expert opinion that Brauen was impaired by a drug and could not operate a motor vehicle safely upon a public highway.
Brauen is charged with DWAI/drugs and failure to keep right and released on an appearance ticket following processing. Brauen is scheduled to appear in the Town of Gainesville Court at a later date.
On May 29, 2021, at about 6:34p.m., deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Strykersville Fire Department, were dispatched to a one vehicle motor vehicle accident, a vehicle into a tree in front of a residence, on Perry Road, in the Town of Sheldon.
Once on scene, it was discovered that the driver, Jay N. Poler , 44, of Strykersville, NY, was traveling westbound on Perry Road when his vehicle left the north shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree in front of a residence. Poler and a juvenile passenger were checked and cleared by the Strykersville Ambulance.
While investigating the crash, it was discovered that Poler had a non-driver ID only in New York State and his driving privileges were revoked.
Poler is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 2nd degree, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree and unlicensed operator. Following processing, Poler was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sheldon Court at a later date.
Deputy Nicholas Thomas arrested Isaiah S. Britt, 20, of Buffalo, NY, for DWAI/drugs following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw on May 24, 2021.
Britt was observed operating a vehicle with extremely dark window tint covering all of the vehicle windows, including the entire windshield. Upon interviewing Britt, the strong odor of burnt marijuana was observed emitting from the vehicle. Britt submitted to field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest for DWAI/drugs.
Britt was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he underwent a drug influence evaluation by a Wyoming County Drug Recognition Expert. He was found to be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Britt is charged with multiple window tint violations, consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, no front plate, and DWAI/drugs.
He was released with appearance tickets on all charges and will return to Town Court at a later date.
Kelly A. Holderer, 42, of Java was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 78 in the Town of Java May 14, 2021. Holderer was stopped by deputies for driving with view obstructed and found to be showing signs of alcohol consumption.
Holderer submitted to field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for DWI.
She was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she provided a breath sample over the legal limit of .08% BAC.
Holderer is charged with view obstructed, DWI, and driving with BAC of .08 or more. She was released with appearance ticket for the Town of Java Court at a later date.
Andrew Z. Perdock, 34, of Warsaw, was arrested for the second time this year for an incident at Wal-Mart in the Town of Warsaw on June 3, 2021
In March, Perdock was charged with burglary 3rd and petit larceny for stealing items from the store while previously being informed he was not allowed on the property due to another previous theft.
On June 3rd, Perdock entered Wal-Mart to check the status of his trespass paperwork and to see if he was allowed on the property yet. Asset Protection immediately recognized Perdock and contacted the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.
Perdock was located outside in the parking lot and placed into custody without incident.
Perdock is charged with criminal trespassing and was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Warsaw Court. Perdock’s previous arrest is still currently pending in the Town of Warsaw Court.
