The Kendra Haacke Memorial Fishing Derby, organized by the Oakfield-Alabama Lions Club, and the Genesee County Parks Department combined for a free fishing experience at DeWitt Recreational Area today on Cedar street in Batavia.
42 people participated in free fishing as of 11:30 a.m. The night crawlers/bait was donated by Walmart/Batavia for the event.
The winners of the Kendra Haacke Memorial Fishing Derby are Jake Munger from Canton, Georgia and Madison Frye of Medina, NY. Munger caught a 6 inch Bass and Frye caught a 7 1/4 in Perch. Each received a free fishing pole for having the biggest fish.
