GENESEE COUNTY/Oakfield man punches two people then attempts to slash them with a knife, cutting one, a third person was threatened with a metal pipe and being shot

Michael T. Martinez, 37, of Church St., Oakfield, is charged with two counts of attempted assault, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd, menacing 3rd, two counts of harassment 2nd and trespass, after two separate altercations in Oakfield that involved three victims on July 21, 2021 in the early afternoon.

In the first incident on Park avenue, Martinez allegedly hit two people with a closed fist, and then allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to slash both victims with a knife, stating he was going to stab and kill them both, Martinez then allegedly cut the arm of one of the victims. He then left the scene on Park avenue and returned to his residence where he threatened a third person, a family member, with a black metal pipe. Martinez then allegedly told the third victim he was going to get a gun from inside the house and shoot the third victim unless they left.

Martinez then returned into his house for a short time and then came outside where he was then taken into custody by responding Deputies and Troopers.

Martinez was arraigned in Oakfield Town Court and held at the Genesee County Jail on $10,000 bail.

The incident was handled by Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies Gauthier and Heberlein with assistance from the NYS Police.
