GENESEE COUNTY/ABATE presents checks to Literacy West NY and Justice for Children

Tiffany Wetzler of Justice for Children and Cassie Graff and Steve Warner of West NY Literacy accept a check from Genesee County ABATE

Genesee County ABATE presented checks for $1,000 to West NY Literacy and Justice for Children Child Advocacy Center today at Stan’s Harley Davidson on W. Saile drive in Batavia.

According to Tim Johnson, President of Genesee County ABATE, the funds were raised at the end of July after the 3rd annual Joe Furst Jr. Memorial Run. 52 bikes participated and money was raised though raffles, 50/50 and a $20 entry fee for each bike. $2002 was raised that day.

“The reason for giving to Literacy is because Joe worked at Literacy,” says Johnson.

“The first year we gave them money, they put a study room in on Mill street in his name which was very touching for the family. We put Genesee Justice in the package because Joe liked what they did for children there”

Both groups say the monies will go right back into assisting the local community.
