GENESEE COUNTY/LeRoy Police charge a Rochester parolee after July stabbing

Randy J. Dumbleton Jr., 38, a parolee from Rochester, was arrested by the LeRoy Police Department on July 22, 2021 and charged with numerous felonies after a reported violent domestic dispute on Lake Street in the Village.

The original call came into the 9-1-1 center as a stabbing and upon arrival of the LeRoy Police, they located a female victim who had been stabbed twice in the arm with a pointed weapon and suffered a glancing scrape in the abdominal area.

During the investigation, Dumbleton was identified as the alleged suspect and was located nearby and taken into custody after trying to hide in nearby wooded area.  Dumbleton is charged with one count of attempted assault in the first degree, a felony, as it was alleged that Dumbleton attempted to commit serious physical injury to the victim by attempting to stab her numerous times in the stomach while she was pregnant.

Dumbleton is also charged with one count of assault in the 2nd degree as he allegedly committed an assault upon the victim with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for possessing a pointed edged weapon while having been convicted of a previous crime.

Dumbleton is also charged with obstructing governmental administration as he refused to exit the wooded area initially while being ordered to do so by the Police.

Dumbleton was arraigned before the LeRoy Town Court and committed to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of bail.  Dumbleton was also referred to the NYS division of Parole for a Parole Violation.
