On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, Gary Wayne Hensley, a 45 year former resident of Warsaw, New York, was convicted following a four day jury trial before the Honorable Michael M. Mohun, of one count of criminal possession of stolen property 3rd degree, four counts of criminal possession of weapon 2nd degree, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree, and one count of criminal possession of stolen
property 5th degree.
Sentencing was adjourned until November 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The People will be seeking to sentence the defendant as a persistent violent felony offender. If sentenced as a persistent violent felony offender, Hensley faces a sentence of up to 25 years to life in prison. If not sentenced as a persistent violent felony offender, he faces up to a 15 years prison term.
Hensley is currently in the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections. He was arrested by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office in February of 2020. This case involved the defendant’s possession of numerous items of stolen property at his former residence and in a storage unit. The stolen property recovered was from 15 different burglaries
occurring in 2019 in various counties in Western New York.
In addition to items of personal property, numerous stolen long guns and two stolen handguns were
recovered,” said Wyoming County District Attorney Donald O’Geen.
The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Vincent A. Hemming. Steven Sessler, Esq. represented the Defendant.
