WYOMING COUNTY/Persistent violent felony offender sentenced to 20 years to life in prison

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Gary Wayne Hensley appeared before the Honorable Michael M. Mohun for sentencing. Following a sentencing hearing, Judge Mohun found Hensley to be a persistent violent felony offender and sentenced him to an aggregate indeterminate term of 20 years to life in prison.

“Mr. Hensley has had a long and prolific criminal career that has finally come to an end and I am proud to say that the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office along with the District Attorney staff are the ones to make it happen. During the last 20 years he has been in jail for approximately 17 out of those 20 years. Illegal entry into someone’s home is an intrusive and long-lasting crime. Once the sanctity of one’s home is broken, victims never feel as safe as they once did. Mr. Hensley’s possession of stolen items taken from these homes is just as serious,” said Wyoming County District Attorney Donald O’Geen.

First Assistant District Attorney Vincent Hemming prosecuted the case for the People and Steven Sessler, Esq. was the attorney for the defendant.
