GENESEE COUNTY/Sheriff’s Office investigating double fatal accident in Pembroke

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double fatal accident that occurred on Rt. 77 in the Town of Pembroke on September 22, 2021 at about 1:47p.m.

The initial investigation revealed that Arnold E. Herdendorf, 69, of Lockport, NY, was operating a 2009 Chevrolet sedan westbound on Indian Falls road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Rt. 77 and collided with a tractor trailer that was headed north on Rt. 77. The vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection and struck a National Grid utility pole before coming to rest.

Herdendorf and his passenger, Christopher M. Rowell, 70, also of Lockport, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 2015 Volvo tractor trailer, Kebir S Inalla, 30, of Metairie, Louisiana, and his passenger, Ahmed A. Jaber, 38, were not injured.

The investigation in ongoing by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the NYS Police Commercial Vehicle Unit, assistance on scene was provided by fire departments from Pembroke, Indian Falls, Alabama and East Pembroke, Mercy EMS, Genesee County Emergency Management and National Grid.
