On October 30th, 2021, at around 11:39pm, officers from the Perry Police Department, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police responded to the Perry Vet’s Club at 64 Lake Street, in the Village of Perry, for the report of multiple people fighting in the parking lot. While responding to the scene, the Wyoming County Dispatch Center reported there was now a male down on the ground unconscious.
Officers from the Perry Police Department arrived on scene and were immediately met by out of control patrons that were reportedly involved in a physical altercation. A male victim was then located on the ground in the parking lot with an apparent head injury and the Perry Ambulance was requested to the scene. Interviews were conducted on scene and it was determined that two females had gotten into a physical altercation outside of the bar and two males were attempting to break it up, one of which was the male victim with the head injury. It was also discovered that another uninvolved patron had struck the victim while he was holding back one of the females, causing the victim to fall back and hit his head on the black top parking lot. The victim was then transported to the Wyoming County Community Hospital for further evaluation. During the investigation, officers discovered that the victim had been transferred to the Erie County Medical Center for further treatment, as he had suffered serious physical injuries.
On November 13th, 2021, at around 7:50pm, officers arrested Devan J. Pries, 23, of Perry, for Assault 2nd Degree – w/ Intent to Cause Serious Physical Injury at the Perry Police Department. Pries was then arraigned in front of the Honorable Judge Miller, of the Perry Village Court, and the Wyoming County Public Defender’s Office was present to represent Pries. The Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office was contacted for a bail recommendation and $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond and $60,000 partially secured bond was requested. Following arraignment, Pries was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, $2,000 bond and $4,000 partially secured bond. Pries is scheduled to return to the Perry Village Court at a later date.
