WYOMING COUNTY/ Sheriff’s Office seizes over 5 kilograms of cocaine

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office announces the seizure of over 5 kilograms of cocaine following a traffic stop on State Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon on November 22, 2021.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop on State Route 20A with a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander for traffic infractions. During roadside interview, the deputy suspected criminal activity and obtained consent to search the vehicle from the driver.

During the course of the vehicle search, kilogram packages of cocaine were found to be concealed within two backpacks in the rear storage area. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two more concealed kilogram packages of cocaine within the upright portion of the driver seat.

The driver, Manuel J. Rodriguez Rosario, 32, a resident of Jamestown, NY, was taken into custody for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. The vehicle was seized, and Rodriguez Rosario and all evidence was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Multiple law enforcement partners assisted with drug testing and background investigation at the Sheriff’s Office, where the substance was confirmed to be cocaine. The total weight of cocaine was determined to be 5.874 kilograms, with the approximate value of the cocaine being over $225,000.00.

Rodriguez Rosario is charged accordingly with the following:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree – Class A1 Felony

Operating as a Major Drug Trafficker – Class A1 Felony

Failed To Keep Right

Driver’s View Obstructed

Rodriguez Rosario was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where he was committed to the Wyoming County Jail without bail. Rodriguez Rosario was scheduled for further court proceedings on the following day.
