WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Orangeville man facing multiple felony charges in domestic incident

Wyatt S. Penfold, 29, of Orangeville, was arrested and faces multiple felony charges following the investigation into a domestic incident which had occurred on December 15, 2021.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies received the report of the domestic incident on December 16, 2021. Throughout the investigation, probable cause was obtained for Penfold’s arrest for offenses which had occurred on Pee Dee Road in the Town of Wethersfield. An arrest warrant was signed by an Orangeville Town Justice, and deputies responded to Penfold’s residence in the Town of Orangeville to execute the arrest warrant. Upon speaking with Penfold at his residence, Penfold refused to cooperate with deputies and a struggle ensued.

Penfold fought with deputies, causing physical injury to a Sergeant. Following a Taser application, Penfold was taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony and attempted assault in the third degree.

Penfold was arraigned in the Warsaw Town Court where he was remanded to Wyoming County Jail without bail.

On December 21, 2021, Penfold was again arrested while still inside the Wyoming County Jail. Penfold was charged for offenses regarding the struggle with deputies and is charged with assault in the second degree, class D violent felony and resisting arrest.

Penfold was arraigned in the Warsaw Village Court where he was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash, $40,000.00 bond, or $75,000.00 partially secured bond. Penfold continues to be held in the Wyoming County Jail awaiting further court action.

A traffic stop for failure to stay right on Route 77 in the Town of Sheldon, resulted in the arrest of owner/operator Cynthia M. Stoddard, 66, of Sheldon, for driving while intoxicated.

After Deputy Collingridge observed general indicators of impairment and an open container in the vehicle, Stoddard was asked to perform field sobriety tests roadside and failed. She was arrested for DWI and submitted to a chemical test which determined her BAC to be .15%.

Stoddard is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08% or more, failure to keep right and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle

She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Sheldon Court on 01/10/2022.
