Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of Leslie J. Barrett ,44, of Perry, following multiple calls for loud music coming from Barrett’s apartment in the early morning hours on January 10th, 2022.
On January 9th, 2022, at around 10:58pm, officers of the Perry Police Department received the report of loud music coming from an apartment on the first floor of a multi dwelling apartment building on Main Street. Officers notified the subject, later identified as Leslie J. Barrett, via phone that his music was too loud, as officers get loud music complaints coming from his apartment frequently.
At around 11:31pm, Officers received a second report of loud music coming from Barrett’s apartment again and Barrett was reminded that the music needed to be turned down due to the time of day and that he would be charged with disorderly conduct if he did not comply.
On January 10th, 2022, at around 12:12am, officers received a third call regarding the loud music coming from Barrett’s apartment. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with Barrett in person. Officers remained in the area following the interview with Barrett and the music became sporadic, being turned on and off. Officers began working on filing accusatory instruments for the arrest when, at around 1:09am, a fourth report of loud music was called in coming from Barrett’s apartment.
Barrett was ultimately charged with two counts of disorderly conduct for unreasonable noise and was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Perry Village Court at a later date. Deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
