On January 13, 2022 at approximately 8:32pm, a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street in the Village of Warsaw after observing multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
The operator of the vehicle identified himself as Jeremiah Bentley, 29, of Dalton, NY. While speaking with Bentley, the deputy observed signs of possible impairment and Bentley was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety tests.
Bentley performed poorly on the testing and was subsequently arrested for DWAI/drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and suboxone, neither of which he possessed legally.
Bentley was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office to undergo a Drug Influence Evaluation by a certified Drug Recognition Expert. Following the evaluation, it was the Drug Recognition Expert’s professional opinion that Bentley was allegedly impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
During the course of the investigation, he was also found to be in violation of a stay-away order of protection, issued on behalf of the passenger in the vehicle on January 11, 2022.
Bentley is charged with DWAI/drugs, failure to keep right, inadequate stop lamps, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th Degree (2 counts) and criminal contempt 2nd degree
