WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Man jailed after stripping off his clothes and attempting to break into a residence, then struggles with police during arrest

On February 13, 2022 at approximately 10:37 PM, Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputies were requested by the New York State Park Police to assist their agency with the report of an unknown male stripping his clothes and attempting to break into a residence in the Letchworth State Park, Town of Genesee Falls.

Sheriff’s deputies and Park Police arrived on scene and located Tanner M. Salamone, 29 of Silver Springs. Salamone was approached by deputies and a struggle ensued. Salamone was ultimately taken into custody by deputies. As a result of the struggle, a Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputy sustained physical injury and was later evaluated at Wyoming County Community Hospital and released.

Salamone was also transported to a hospital for evaluation. Salamone was later released and taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass in the second degree, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and assault in the second degree.

He was arraigned in the Town of Genesee Falls Court where bail was set at $3,000 cash, $6,000 bond and $6,000 partially secured. Salamone is to reappear in the Town of Genesee Falls Court on April 13, 2022 for further proceedings. The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Park Police, New York State Police and the Warsaw Village Police Department.

A joint effort by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming County Probation Department, and Maryland State Police led to multiple arrests of Courtney J. Terwilliger, 39, of Arcade, NY.

The Wyoming County Probation Department developed information that Courtney J. Terwilliger had left the State of New York without permission after Terwilliger missed a probation appointment. Probation Officers partnered with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office to attempt and locate Terwilliger. After utilizing investigative resources, deputies determined Terwilliger was in the State of Georgia. Several days later, information was again developed utilizing investigative resources that Terwilliger was traveling northbound on the I-95 in the State of North Carolina.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies solicited the assistance of Maryland State Police who successfully located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in Frederick, Maryland on February 13, 2022. Terwilliger was found in possession of a loaded handgun and an amount of cannabis during this traffic stop, and she was charged accordingly in the State of Maryland by the Maryland State Police.

Terwilliger returned to her residence in the Town of Arcade on February 14, 2022, and Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Wyoming County Probation Officers, arrested Terwilliger on a Violation of Probation Warrant.

Terwilliger was arraigned in Arcade Court and committed to the Wyoming County Jail without bail.

A follow up investigation was conducted regarding the loaded handgun found in Terwilliger’s possession in the State of Maryland. Following investigation, the handgun was found to have been stolen on February 3, 2022 from an address on Bray Road in the Town of Arcade.

On February 14, 2022, Terwilliger was arrested for stealing the handgun, and she is
charged with grand larceny 4th degree, a class E felony and criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, a class C felony.

Terwilliger was transported from the Wyoming County Jail to the Wyoming County Court where she was arraigned in front of The Honorable Keith Kibler. Terwilliger was then held on the new charges in lieu of an additional $10,000.00 cash bail, $25,000.00 bond, or $50,000.00 partially secured bond.

Terwilliger is scheduled to return to Arcade Court on March 3, 2022, for further proceedings.
