WYOMING COUNTY/Town of Eagle/Man treated for smoke inhalation in Cadwell road fire, home a total loss

Eleven fire companies responded to a house fire at 7882 Cadwell road in the Town of Eagle on Sunday morning.

Fire crews from Bliss, Arcade, Castile, Gainesville, Pike, Perry, Silver Springs, Strykersville, Centerville, Fillmore and Yorkshire responded about 11:20a.m., and were on scene for about 5 hours.

The Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services reports that a faulty wood stove chimney caused the blaze that caused $100,000 in damages. The home is a total loss. The home is owned by Debra Heinonen.

A tenant in the home, Chester Newland, was transported to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation and is being assisted by the Red Cross and family members.

Also assisting at the scene, Wyoming County Emergency Services, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, NYS Police, Red Cross and RG&E.
