The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accidental death that occurred on March 6, 2022, in Bergen.
At 5:58p.m., the Genesee County Dispatch Center received a report of an unresponsive male pinned under a tree in the woods off of Sackett road. Investigators say Steven K. Reber, 61, had been walking in the woods when a tree fell and struck him in the head, the tree fell due to the windy conditions.
Lifesaving measures were attempted at the scene by family and emergency personnel, but Reber succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Foul play is not suspected in the incident.
